Tigerwood is a species of exotic hardwood, native to tropical west Africa, from Sierra Leone to Angola.  Tigerwood is considered to be a very dense and heavy type of wood, and is naturally resistent to rot and decay.   The heartwood can vary in appearance from reddish brown to orange with irregular stripes of very dark brown, while the sapwood can look brownish white in appearance.  Tigerwood is popular in anything from desks, to accent tables, to table tops.
