Black Walnut, or Eastern Black Walnut, is a hardwood species that is native to North America.  Typically found growing from Ontario, south to Georgia and Texas, and west to South Dakota, it is known for its use in creating fine furniture around the world.  The heartwood can range from light brown to chocolate brown in appearance; while the sapwood can range from pale yellow to almost white in appearance.   This variation in color between the two along with its durability and sturdiness, is precisely what makes Walnut so appealing to most people who seek it out.
